Enago’s Author Workshop Program Receives Overwhelming Response from Thai Researchers

Thailand: Enago recently hosted an author workshop at Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, exclusively for researchers from Medicine and Life Sciences disciplines. This session was attended by doctors, researchers, and medical practitioners from various departments such as Pediatrics, Physiology, Immunology, Pathology, Radiology, and Surgery. The session was focused on providing insights on important aspects of publication research in well-renowned international medical journals.

Enago’s sessions were conducted by Dr. Scott Roach, a distinguished academic expert, published author, and instructor having >20 years of experience in academia. As the session was attended by a very mixed audience, several topics such as importance of maintaining language quality of manuscripts, overcoming rejection from journals, and identifying the target journal for publication were addressed. For ease in writing and publication, some useful tips for effectively addressing pre-submission queries and drafting a good cover letter were addressed. To increase awareness of open access and predatory publishing, Dr. Roach also discussed about ensuring published content has appropriate copyrights. Dr. Roach also explained the peer review process in detail to improve the audience’s awareness of they can deal with peer review comments and suggestions.

Prof. Dr. Prasert Auewarakul, Deputy Dean for Research at Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University mentioned, “As a practice, we always seek out initiatives that would be beneficial for our researchers at Mahidol University. Enago’s session helped us address a critical issue related to getting published in international journals. The interactive Q&A session gave participants a chance to have one-to-one discussion and help address various issues faced by them while preparing manuscripts. We aim to bridge the gap between research and publication by organizing workshops like this and improve the concepts of research communication of our researchers.”
