Crimson Interactive was an exhibitor at the Council of Science Editors (CSE) Annual Meeting 2014, which hosted around 370 attendees from 22 countries, including India, China, Japan, Brazil, Mali, and Mexico. This year’s theme was “4D Publishing: Data, Decision, Difference, and Direction.” CSE is a dynamic community of editorial professionals dedicated to the responsible and effective communication of science. This year it provided an excellent platform for learning from numerous presentations and keynote sessions that covered topics such as&nbsp;Challenges and opportunities handling data; Innovations in publishing; Authorship, micro-attribution, and contribution; Best practices for streamlining publication workflow; Ethical choices, handling misconduct, and recognizing publishing fraud; Open access; Library science; Leading diverse or remote teams;&nbsp;and&nbsp;Sharing knowledge about educational strategies, benefiting research, publication processes in developing and newly industrialized nations, and internships benefits. This year’s program was designed to help editors make the right decisions to adopt new and improved directions in scholarly publishing. CSE offered a wealth of networking opportunities with a large number of attendees and exhibitors. A special initiative this year was Dinner Conversations, where we could hold conversations with conference speakers and moderators over dinner. We felt that everyone was highly engaged given the amount and pace of change in publishing. Everyone had their eyes to the publishing horizon making sure that they are aware of the coming “next thing.”&nbsp; Based on the information gathered, we have started working on new ideas and improved processes to help journal editors, publishers, and research institutes boost scientific publication.
