Enago and ACS invest in Signals to strengthen the global research integrity ecosystem
Enago has announced a strategic investment in Signals as part of the company’s $1.1 million seed funding round, alongside ACS Publications, a division of the American Chemical Society, Scholarly Angels and other leading angel investors.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to helping publishers address growing challenges related to research quality, integrity, and trust in the scholarly record. As research output continues to grow and editorial workflows become more complex, publishers require integrated solutions that combine technology, data, and human expertise to evaluate research efficiently and responsibly.
Through this collaboration, Enago and Signals will work together to deliver a suite of integrity solutions for the global publishing community. Enago brings decades of expertise and a deep understanding of the research ecosystem, delivering value through its content services and AI-products. Enago Reports, its flagship product, is a multi-technology manuscript credibility assessment platform that helps publishers evaluate submissions for content and structural integrity. Signals’ technology and data driven insights help publishers evaluate research quality and detect potential integrity risks. The partnership will enable a comprehensive solution combining each other’s strengths.
"Investing in Signals is a strategic step forward for Enago and a natural extension of our shared vision to strengthening research quality evaluation,” said Abhigyan Arun, CEO of Enago. “We are excited about the impact we will create together by combining advanced technology with human expertise"
Elliott Lumb, co-founder of Signals, said: “The research ecosystem needs comprehensive solutions to protect the scholarly record from the rising volume of integrity risks. Our partnership with Enago makes this possible, and allows us to provide publishers with unified solutions, rather than relying on single-point tools”. Tiago Barros, co-founder of Signals, added: “By combining our complementary technology and expertise, we are positioned to deliver greater efficiency and value at scale to publishers globally".
