Intelligence for every stage of Editorial Review
Built around the manuscript as the central object, PeerAI by Enago combines AI models, publisher-defined editorial criteria, manuscript analysis, and integrity signals to provide editors and peer reviewers with actionable decision-making support. It’s the peer they have been missing.
PeerAI augments rather than replaces human judgement, so editors and peer reviewers are spending time and intellect where it matters most.

What are we solving, exactly?
Between editors evaluating manuscripts for journal scope and standards, and peer reviewers fielding multiple requests, these decision-makers are overworked. There is also the challenge of undeclared AI-use by reviewers leading to superficial review.
Human-Centred Decision Making
AI augments human expertise but does not replace editorial or reviewer judgement.
LLM Intelligence
LLMs support decision making in the format you want, at the level you choose.
Contextual Explainability
Recommendations are accompanied by evidence and reasoning.
Publisher Configurability
Aligned to journal-specific scope, policies, editorial priorities, review criteria, LLM selection.
The Peer for all Reviews: Three Integrated Models
PeerAI has been shaped through continuous collaboration with publishers, editors, and peer reviewers across the scholarly publishing ecosystem.
The result is a platform built around the workflows, challenges, and decisions they face every day bringing together three integrated capabilities: Editor Consult, Reviewer Assistant, and Peer Review Report.
Editor Consult
An AI-assisted editorial triage and manuscript assessment environment designed to support editors with initial manuscript evaluation.
Editor Consult helps answer key editorial questions:
- Is the manuscript within the journal's scope?
- Does the manuscript meet the journal's quality expectations?
- Are there research integrity concerns that require attention?
- Should the manuscript proceed to peer review?
Capabilities include:
- AI-generated manuscript assessments
- Journal-specific evaluation criteria and checklists
- Optional research integrity signals integrated from Reports by Enago
- Explainable recommendations with supporting evidence
- Manuscript summarisation
- Related literature discovery using OpenAlex data
- Confidence indicators for editorial guidance
- Conversational manuscript exploration through PeerAI Lens
- Structured dashboard for editorial decision-making
Expected outcomes:
- Reduced editorial workload
- Faster triage decisions
- Increased consistency in manuscript assessment
- Greater focus on high-potential submissions
Peer Review Report
An AI-generated peer review report that serves as an additional source of review input for editors. The report evaluates manuscripts against standard peer review criteria and generates structured feedback with supporting rationale.
Capabilities include:
- Assessment of manuscript quality and scientific rigour
- Evaluation of methodology, results, and conclusions
- Structured reviewer-like feedback
- Editorial recommendations with supporting evidence
- Rapid report generation within existing workflows
Typical use cases:
- Additional reviewer perspective
- Reviewer shortage mitigation
- Decision support for editors
- Resolution support when reviewer opinions diverge
Expected outcomes:
- Increased review capacity
- Faster, evidence-based editorial decisions
- Additional decision confidence
- Improved workflow efficiency
Reviewer Assistant
An AI-assisted workspace designed to support peer reviewers throughout the review process. Reviewers have access to contextual tools and resources that improve review quality and efficiency while preserving reviewer ownership of the final assessment.
Capabilities include:
- Manuscript summarisation
- AI-assisted responses to review questions
- Structured review workflows
- Assessment of manuscript quality and scientific rigour
- Evaluation of methodology, results, and conclusions
- Review quality validation and gap identification
- Reviewer comment enhancement and refinement
- Publisher-configurable review criteria
Supported workflows include:
- AI-assisted review drafting with reviewer validation
- Reviewer-authored assessments with AI quality checks
- Hybrid review workflows based on publisher preferences
Expected outcomes:
- Reduced reviewer effort
