Discussion vs. Conclusion: Learn the Difference

In this video, Milena Georgieva, Lead Editor at Oxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity shares informative tips on the difference between Discussion and Conclusion in a research paper.
Discussion and Conclusion are the most important concluding parts of a manuscript which provide a broader overview.

The difference between Discussion and Conclusion are as follows. The Discussion part follows the Result part and it is considered as one of the hardest parts to prepare and write because of the following reasons:
1) The Discussion section explains and restates the results
2) It analyzes the Results pertinent to the literature
3) Present Results logically
4) Points out the strengths of the Results
5) The Discussion is the section where the Results are analyzed
6) The Discussion part should not be longer than 600–700 words, because the shorter and more concise it is, the better it will be understood by the readers

Structure of the discussion part:
The Discussion section consists of four paragraphs
1) Briefly restate the Results
2) Cover literature gaps in the pertinent literature
3) It presents the effectiveness and uniqueness of the study
4) Provide hypotheses for future prospects

Conclusion:
1) The Conclusion part is shorter:
2) It has no more than two paragraphs
3) It restates the main finding and results
