Work experience

Studied the role of tetraspanin CD82 in the process of oligodendrocyte differentiation. Our study showed that glia can be modulated to switch between their mature and immature form, which holds tremendous potential for therapeutic development in demyelinating diseases like multiple sclerosis.

Characterized the role of the Eph/Ephrin family of receptors, tyrosine kinases, in the development

of the cytoarchitecture of the brain.

Standardized the Golgi staining method for better and efficient visualization of neurons

Collaborated with Dr. Todd Weber (Rider University) to investigate the role of the Eph/Ephrin family of receptors, tyrosine kinases, on the circadian behavior of sleep.

Supervised one graduate and two undergraduate students to develop a circadian study.

Proved for the first time that βA3/A1-crystallin plays an important regulatory role in the phagocytosis of the retinal pigmental epithelium cells of the eye.

Supervised one undergraduate student to maintain primary oligodendroglia cell line from rat-brain cortex.

Characterized the role of the membrane pump Na-K-ATPase in maintaining neuronal and brain

excitability in REM sleep.

Organized one competitive research festival (Bio sparks, 2006) of research data including the oral presentation and experience-sharing of 150 participants.
