Crimson exhibits at the American Translators Association 55th Annual Conference 2014 from Nov 5–8 in Chicago, Illinois
American Translators Association (ATA) hosted its 55th annual conference in the Paris of the Prairies—Chicago! It is the largest professional association for translation and interpretation professionals in the US. Founded in 1959, ATA has nearly 11,000 members in more than 95 countries. Its aim is to advance the translation and interpreting professions and foster the professional development of individual translators and interpreters.
This year the conference had a turnout of 1842 attendees, making it the second largest ATA conference! Participants included an eclectic mix of translators, interpreters, teachers, project managers, web and software developers, language companies, hospitals, universities, and government agencies. The event was unlike any other with its blend of premier educational events and networking along with fun and exuberance.
With over 175 sessions targeting different languages and specializations, the event offered immense learning opportunities to discuss tips & techniques, latest trends, and challenges within the language and translation industry. Along with the knowledge sessions, ATA conducted many special events. Sessions like “Buddies Welcome Newbies,” “Brainstorm Networking,” and “Résumé Exchange” opened great networking opportunities to connect with colleagues from around the world. For those looking for one-on-one assistance and advice on industry tools, translation tool support stations called The Tool Bar were available at the exhibit hall.
For Crimson, the conference was a wonderful event to exhibit in, share our interests and experiences with the global language and translation community, and build fruitful business partnerships. It brought to fore the ever-growing translation needs and being up-to-date with people, new technologies, trends, and quality standards. Session tracks on Language Technology and Language Service Companies gave good insight into current challenges and dealing with them. Overall, it was nothing short but fabulous!
