Clarivate Analytics has recently announced a partnership<\/a> with Impactstory. Under the agreement, Clarivate Analytics will help fund Impactstory\u2019s oaDOI service. This should make it easier for researchers to find open access content. The Clarivate Analytics grant will help Impactstory to offer about 18 million full-text articles to the research community at no charge. The arrangement will also see Impactstory\u2019s oaDOI index integrated into Clarivate Analytics\u2019 Web of Science infrastructure. Impactstory\u2019s oaDOI service is currently used<\/a> by more than 700 libraries allowing readers to access more than 500,000 articles daily. The oaDOI service is also behind Unpaywall\u2019s browser extension<\/a> that is used by more than 70,000 people in 145 countries. Unpaywall helps readers find green open access versions of articles they like.<\/p>\n

According to CEO Jay Nadler, this new agreement is one way in which Clarivate Analytics is demonstrating its commitment to enabling legal access to important research articles. It will connect researchers to verified versions of research articles that would ordinarily be behind the paywall. In this way, Impactstory is a solution to the common barriers to research. This will benefit smaller institutions the most from the improved access. Impactstory\u2019s co-founders stated that this grant will advance their goal of removing barriers to research by making the relevant full-text articles accessible. They also see the grant as a step towards a more universally open science communication system. This new relationship is expected to help Clarivate Analytics enrich their Web of Science data.<\/p>\n

All the data that Impactstory has will remain free for the community to access via its oaDOI API<\/a>. This partnership is beneficial to researchers as it helps scientists obtain OA articles whether they were published under gold or green open access terms. The additional funding will help Impactstory expand its oaDOI database, making their service even more useful to researchers. Since Impactstory\u2019s oaDOI powers Unpaywall, this expansion will also be beneficial to researchers who use Unpaywall\u2019s browser plugin to read research articles. Overall, this new partnership represents another step towards providing easier access for researchers to the scientific data relevant to their work.<\/p>\n
