It also works as evidence for assertions and claims that researchers make in their manuscripts. Further, an exhaustive and methodical reference list is a hallmark of a well-informed researcher. We are glad to announce that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rsm.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Royal Society of Medicine<\/a>\u00a0in collaboration with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.karger.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">Karger Publishers<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.enago.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Enago<\/a> conducted an interactive webinar that discussed good citation practices and shared tips to draft a well-organized bibliography. Through this session, researchers will have an improved understanding of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Why proper citation and referencing is important?<\/li>\n<li>Why and what should authors cite?<\/li>\n<li>How should researchers find and acknowledge sources?<\/li>\n<li>An overview of different citation styles<\/li>\n<li>Tips to avoid plagiarism while citing<\/li>\n<li>Paraphrasing and quoting<\/li>\n<li>Reference management tools<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Who Should Attend this Session?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Early-stage researchers<\/li>\n<li>Doctoral students<\/li>\n<li>Postdoctoral Researchers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>About the Speaker<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. Fiona Murphy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of Dryad Data Repository, STM Journals Publisher, and Scholarly Communication Expert<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Murphy is an independent publishing consultant with more than 20 years of experience in the scholarly publishing industry. She is the owner of Murphy Mitchell Consulting Ltd. advising institutions, learned societies, and commercial publishing companies about research data and its collection, management, storage re-use, and access requirements. She is currently a board member of the data repository, Dryad and an Editorial Board Member of the Data Science Journal. Along with holding an Associate Fellowship at the University of Reading, she is also a member of the peer-review board of Research Data in the Earth Sciences, Data2Paper, and Belmont Forum, and a co-Chair of WDS-RDA Publishing Data Workflows Working Group and Force11 Scholarly Commons Working Group.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Murphy is DPhil in English Literature from the University of Oxford and has collaborated with several reputed publishers like Oxford University Press, Bloomsbury Academic, and Earth and Environmental Sciences at Wiley in past.
