Citations allow research scholars to acknowledge significant scientific contributions by other researchers in their field and increase their credibility as a scientist. It also works as evidence for assertions and claims that researchers make in their manuscript. Further, an exhaustive and methodical reference list is a hallmark of a well-informed researcher. In this session, we helped researchers understand the good citation practices and shared tips to draft a well-organized bibliography.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers will learn:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Why proper citation and referencing is important?<\/li>\n<li>Why and what should you cite?<\/li>\n<li>An overview of different citation styles<\/li>\n<li>Where can you find citations\/references?<\/li>\n<li>Forward and reverse searches<\/li>\n<li>Paraphrasing and quoting<\/li>\n<li>How to avoid plagiarism<\/li>\n<li>Reference management tools<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>ABOUT THE SPEAKER<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Despina Sanoudou, Ph.D. (Cambridge), FACMG (Harvard)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An established researcher, public speaker, and published author, Dr. Sanoudou is an award-winning medical researcher with 178 publications in renowned medical\/biomedical journals. The impact of her work is demonstrated by the 4,981+ citations that she has to her credit. She is also the recipient of more than 20 research grants. Dr. Sanoudou has worked as a coordinator for an international genomics\/pharmacogenomics program and as a fellow with Genzyme and Brigham and Women\u2019s Hospital. She was a post-doctoral fellow as well as an instructor at Harvard Medical School. As a Publication and Training Consultant with Enago Academy, she conducts webinars and workshops to help researchers understand the nuances of academic writing and publishing. To date, Dr. Sanoudou has attended &gt;200 national and international conferences as an invited speaker, served as a peer reviewer for 41 international journals, and chaired several seminars.
