These elements can be considered to be linked or associated when it is intended that they be perceived as a coherent group (for example, abbreviations, figure\/table headings, etc.). Inconsistency is the most common error made by authors writing scholarly manuscripts. Some concepts of language and style are often open-ended (unless <a href=\"https:\/\/www.enago.com\/academy\/understanding-journal-submission-requirements\/\">journal guidelines specify a style<\/a>) and can be puzzling; however, this can be made simpler if we keep one thing in mind: in case of more than one acceptable convention, it is better to choose one and stick with it throughout the manuscript.<\/p>\n<div id=\"om-dqx4acd1ednpm2dtmovz-holder\"><\/div>\n<p>Here are some aspects to keep in mind when ensuring consistency.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.enago.com\/academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/title.jpg\" alt=\"Maintain Consistency in Academic Writing\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 745px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 745\/463;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Inconsistency is the disorderly representation of a set of associated elements.
