While adjusting images, authors must ask themselves if the resulting image is the accurate representation of the raw image acquired. Popular journals such as <em><a href=\"https:\/\/rupress.org\/jcb\/pages\/editorial-policies#data-integrity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">The Journal of Cell Biology<\/a><\/em> and <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/nature-research\/editorial-policies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nature<\/a><\/em> provide specific guidelines for image processing. Understanding these stipulated guidelines is paramount to ensure image integrity and standards.
