Getting your name in print, even as a contributor or co-author<\/a>, is a critical step in building a career in academia. \u2018Publish or Perish<\/a>\u2019 is real, and when you\u2019re applying for promotion or research funds<\/a>, the caliber of your authorship and the subsequent citation of your published works will be considered in your overall evaluation.<\/p>\n Your research studies will most likely contribute the most to this decision, but if you are a young researcher with your first publishable paper, seek the advice of your senior colleagues and faculty.<\/p>\n Compile a detailed profile of each of the journal candidates they recommend \u2013 ranking, readership profile (international or domestic), and any specific copyright restrictions.
