Well, there are a group of bacteria known as group A Streptococcus. They usually cause ‘strep throat’ or streptococcal pharyngitis and rarely are known to attack muscles and cause a necrotizing myositis resulting either in death for up to 50 percent of the cases, or the survivors are left with severe deformities. However, there has been no proper cure for this disease. Recently, the researchers from Houston Methodist identified genes in group A Streptococcus responsible for causing this disease by using a unique genetic tool called TraDIS. The researchers can now use this information to their advantage for developing strategies to prevent the disease and treat patients effectively. They also hope to create an effective vaccine to get rid of this organism.

To know more, click here now!

Have you heard about flesh-eating bacteria?
