But retarded intellectual development was never one of those. However, according to a study published in the <em>Journal of Intellectual Disability Research<\/em>, the children who were exposed to air pollution have attained intellectual disability within time. The study was performed over more than 18,000 UK children born between the years 2000-2002. The results of the study showed that about children suffering from intellectual disability are 33% more in areas exposed to high levels of diesel particulate matter, 30% more in high nitrogen dioxide and so on. \u00a0The researchers also studied that the intellectual disability is higher in socio-economic deprived regions.
