There are two types of degrees when it comes to oral or written communication\u2014comparative and superlative. When using the comparative degree (for doing comparisons), we know that it is necessary to use \u201cthan\u201d in the same sentence. However, when we use words like \u201chigher,\u201d \u201ctaller,\u201d etc., we need not use \u201cthan\u201d in the certain sentences.
