Service Checkpoints

The table compares the features offered under each level of editing.

Proofreading
When to choose Proofreading

Under the Proofreading service, our expert proofreaders focus on correcting technical errors related to grammar and punctuation that will improve the overall presentation of the paper.

When should you choose our Proofreading service?
This service is apt for you if

  • You are confident of communicating in the English language in the context of your academic domain.
  • You have extensive experience in writing papers in the English language.
  • You want us to check whether you have used grammar and punctuation correctly and consistently.
  • Your paper is already formatted according to the guidelines of your target journal.
Important Notes
  • Free formatting is not available under the Proofreading service. Formatting can be opted for as an additional paid service under Journal Style Check. Free formatting is available only under Copyediting (Double Check) and Substantive Editing.
  • Assignments edited under Proofreading should not be considered publication ready unless stated otherwise.
  • Assignments edited under Proofreading do not qualify for Certificate of Editing. When evaluating papers written by non-native English-speaking authors, some journals require a Certificate of Editing which states that the paper is edited by native professional editors and may include a standard recommendation for English checking in the absence of one. Please note that this certificate is available only for assignments edited under Copyediting (Double Check) and Substantive Editing.
Copyediting
(Single Check)

When to choose Copy-editing (Single Check)

Under the Copyediting (Single Check) service, our expert editors focus on correcting errors related to grammar, syntax, word choice, and sentence construction, which play a huge role in improving logical flow and the final presentation of the paper.

When should you choose our Copyediting (Single Check) service?
This service is apt for you if

  • You are comfortable with communicating in the English language in the context of your academic domain.
  • You have moderate experience in writing papers in the English language.
  • You are nevertheless not sure whether you have used the correct spelling, capitalization, punctuation, verb tenses, and the like.
  • Your paper is already formatted according to the guidelines of your target journal.
Important Notes
  • Free formatting is not available under the Copyediting (Single Check) service. Formatting can be opted for as an additional paid service under Journal Style Check. Free formatting is available only under Copyediting (Double Check) and Substantive Editing.
  • Assignments edited under Copyediting (Single Check) should not be considered publication ready unless stated otherwise.
  • Assignments edited under Copyediting (Single Check) do not qualify for Certificate of Editing. Copyediting
(Double Check)

When to choose Copy-editing (Double Check)

Under the Copyediting (Double Check) service, our expert editors not only focus on correcting errors related to grammar, syntax, word choice, and sentence construction, which play a huge role in improving logical flow and the final presentation of the paper, but also provide inputs and make changes that amount to an enhanced output.

When should you choose our Copyediting (Double Check) service?
This service is apt for you if

  • You are more or less comfortable with communicating in the English language in the context of your academic domain.
  • You have some experience in writing papers in the English language.

  • You are uncertain about continuity, sentence construction, word choice, and paragraph flow.
  • Your paper is long, and you feel you might not have used consistent terms or expressions throughout.
  • Your paper is somewhat or not formatted according to the guidelines of your target journal.
Important Notes
  • Apart from the scope and checkpoints mentioned above, we also offer free formatting under this service! Your edited paper will therefore comply with styles such as APA or MLA. Custom formatting guidelines specified by journals are also taken care of under formatting.
  • If choosing this service, you can also avail of a Certificate of Editing for your document. This certificate is useful especially for non-native English-speaking authors, because some journals require a Certificate of Editing which states that the paper is edited by native professional editors and may include a standard recommendation for English editing by native professional editors, in the absence of one.
Substantive Editing
When to choose Substantive Editing

Under the Substantive Editing service, in addition to copyediting, our expert editors will address issues such as structure, content gaps, and the overall style of the document, thereby ensuring that the document achieves its underlying objectives in a consistent and engaging manner.
