In order to maintain and improve upon these quality standards, Enago has a five-member quality management team.

 

ISO 9001:2008 CERTIFICATION

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is a network of national standards institutes of 147 countries with a central secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland. The organization sets standards for companies to follow and certifies them after a successful audit of their systems and processes.

In May 2006, QCert Ltd. certified Enago’s systems and processes to the ISO-9001 standard. The significance of ISO certification is two fold. First, the documentation of our operating procedures enables us to operate more efficiently. Second, the certification assures our customers that our quality standards are among the best in the world. Semi-annual independent audits are conducted to ensure that Enago continues to meet the ISO 9001:2008 standards.

EDITOR QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (EQMS)

While ISO guarantees the quality of our services at a process level, we have an editing quality management system in place to manage the quality standards of the edited document.

As there are no standards in the editing industry to judge the quality of the edited text, we have developed an in-house Quality Assurance model (QA Model) adapted from the LISA QA model, which is used by translation giants around the world. In our QA model, we determine defects in the edited output by taking into account the international standards for journal publication as well as the service description. Using the quality score of each document, we grade our editors on a percentage scale, and only editors who consistently cross a threshold of 95% are assigned editorial assignments.

 

QUALITY GUARANTEE

We focus on providing good quality, consistently, assignment after assignment, and take client complaints very seriously. We guarantee that the quality of the edited document will be of international standards. In case a client feels that the editing is not in line with the service definition or has received unfavorable reviewer comments on the language quality, he/she can approach our complaint resolution team. Process for complaint resolution:

 

Client registers complaint online
Reviewer comments and document submitted to journal are analyzed
Based on the service chosen, we count the errors found and arrive at the quality score
Preventive action is implemented and monitored as per ISO standards
Based on the result corrective action is taken: Free Reediting | Discount | No Action

 

Important Notes

  • Assignments edited under Proofreading and Copyediting (Single Check) should not be considered publication ready unless stated otherwise.
  • Assignments edited under Proofreading and Copyediting (Single Check) do not qualify for Certificate of Editing. When evaluating papers written by non-native English-speaking authors, some journals require a Certificate of Editing which states that the paper is edited by native professional editors and may include a standard recommendation for English checking in the absence of one. Please note that this certificate is available only for assignments edited under Copyediting (Double Check) and Substantive Editing.
