As a company that specializes in English language editing, we often find ourselves acting as English sounding boards. Our clients often talk to us about language matters that vex them. From punctuation on visiting cards to hitting the right pauses at an international conference, our clients want to be certain that everything is perfect. Their drive to acquire proficiency in English—the universal language of communication—is fuelled by their dream to publish their work in top-quality journals.
Inspired by these authors, Yuko Furuya, Head of Crimson Japan, spearheaded the book project, an innovative effort to capture the stories of Japanese authors who have successfully overcome the language barrier. The project led to the Crimson’s first in-house Japanese publication: 英語のバカヤロー! ~「英語の壁」に挑んだ12人の日本人~. (English, I hate you—12 Japanese authors who tackled the English language barrier)
Through interviews with 12 Japanese authors, including Nobel Prize nominee Shuji Nakamura, Takeshi Yoro, Chizuko Ueno, and Heizo Takenaka, the book offers an insight into the lives of top-notch researchers and their struggles with the English language. Honest and humorous, the stories are a source of inspiration for aspiring young researchers hoping to publish in international journals.

Enago makes non native speakers of English to feel more confident when submitting a paper to English or American journals. My paper is in analysis for publication in a highly competitive journal after having used Enago’s English editing services. I am very satisfied with the overall editing quality and the editor made necessary changes without influencing my original thoughts. Thank you team Enago! Soon I hope to use the Enago services again.
