Artwork Editing
Enago has a team of design specialists who can help you with manuscript artwork editing. Once you give us the data or images and the name of your target journal, we can handle the preparation of figures as per the journal guidelines. As part of artwork editing services, we can edit or design your line art to suit the journal guidelines. This includes illustrations, graphs and charts. Alternatively, we can check whether your photographs conform to the journal guidelines and recommend a list of changes.
Note: We will not enhance the images as it may amount to fraudulent practices.

As one amongst the publication support services, artwork editing services ensures that the artwork guidelines are followed correctly, with reference to the following areas:

Resolution Does the final image fit the size recommended (usually 300 dpi)? We will adjust the resolution of the image as needed. |

Color Requirements Some journals recommend that artwork be submitted in CMYK (Nature) while others recommend RGB (Cell). We can also convert images from color to black&white for submission. |

Image Dimensions Images need to be of a particular width to fit the single or double column layout of the journal. Usually, illustrations should be prepared in the dimensions they will be printed to avoid any misrepresentation. |

File Size Some journals have a limit on the file size of each figure (for example, images should be no greater than 10 MB in size). We can tweak the file size per the journal’s requirement. |

Font Usage We check the font type (most journals prefer Helvetica) and the minimum font size (for example, 8-point type size) used on the images. |

Multipanel Images We check for consistency between numbers, letters and symbols used in multi-paneled figures. Some journals also have specific instructions for multiple panel figures; we’ll ensure that the final figures are in line with the journal’s instructions. |

File Formats Journals accept only particular file formats. We have the necessary file conversion software to convert images from the existing format to the format desired by the journal (for example, from PowerPoint to TIFF). |

LineWeights Graph lines, error bars, and outlines usually need to be at least ½ point in weight. This is because lines that are less than ½ point may disappear or be broken during printing. We can check your illustrations for legibility. |
