We are glad to announce that Enago in collaboration with Gadjah Mada University will be conducting author workshops for early-stage researchers to help increase their awareness of academic publishing.

Enago’s workshops will be focused on providing practical advice on the important aspects related to manuscript preparation and journal submission as well share some insights on important aspects of research and publication ethics. The workshops will provide useful tips to authors on how they should write research papers and increase their awareness of the best ethical practices while submitting their articles to journals for publication.

These workshops will help the audience increase their awareness of the following:

  • Understanding the nuances of academic writing
  • Awareness of the process of manuscript submission
  • Improved usage of English language and grammar
  • Better understanding of research and publication misconduct
  • Understanding plagiarism and data falsification

At the end of the workshops, all participants will also receive a Certificate of Participation issued by Enago.

  • A licensed specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (Orthopedics) by qualification and a scholarly publishing professional by vocation, Dr. Anupama Kapadia has worked in and around the editorial paradigm for the last 10 years.
  • Through her experience as an editor, trainer, and author education liaison, she is well acquainted with the pressures that research authors face, the challenges they encounter in trying to get published, and the need for them to be acquainted with the ever-changing publishing trends. She has also led several projects related to fulfill newer requirements of clients and publishers by enhancing the editorial, peer review systems, and author services of Enago. In addition, she was the co-author for Enago's publications in European Science Editing, a peer-reviewed journal that covers all aspects of scientific editing and publishing.
  • In her current role as Editor-in-Chief at Enago Academy, Dr. Kapadia’s aim is to gain an in-depth understanding of the scholarly publishing industry and educate authors about good publication practices such that their challenges are mitigated and they have a better understanding of what successful publication entails. In this vein, she has conducted several focused workshops on topics ranging from the importance of driving a research writing-based curriculum in higher education to tips for getting published in high-impact journals.
  • Dr. Kapadia is a member of well-renowned scholarly associations such as COPE, SSP, CSE, ISMTE and EASE, which focus on increasing professional networking within the scholarly publishing community and help establish best practices amongst publishers and journals. She is also a volunteer in the different committees of ISMTE and EASE.


Topic 1: Academic Publishing—Writing, Submission, and Successful Publication

This presentation is primarily targeted toward researchers who wish to submit their papers to top-notch international journals but face difficulty with the correct usage of language and grammar. In a system where experts from respective fields need to assess the validity, significance, and originality of the described work, it is imperative that the language quality of the articles submitted to such journals is good to avoid rejection at the peer review stage. Unfortunately, many papers that do not satisfy internationally accepted language requirements are rejected by the journal editors themselves and do not even reach the stage of peer review.

  • Awareness of publishing papers in English and structuring of academic papers
  • Importance of literature review and structuring of reference lists
  • Importance of providing pointers while writing content and effectively using academic English in your papers
  • Preparing your paper for publication and journal selection

This presentation will help researchers increase their awareness of the ethical issues related to research and publication, which can affect the publication of research as well as significant discredit among the academic community. In a system where experts from multiple fields are involved in various research collaborations, it is imperative that researchers ensure that each contributor is acknowledged to avoid any subsequent conflict of interest. This presentation will help researchers increase their awareness of the ethical issues related to research and publication, which can affect the publication of research as well as attract significant discredit from the academic community.
